WIPP

Briljent, LLC is pleased to announce that the nation's largest bi-partisan women's business group, Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), has named President and CEO, Kathy Carrier, the 2006 recipient of the WIPP Public Policy Award. The award is presented to a member who sets an example of the power each of us has by becoming actively engaged in the political process.

"Kathy has clearly demonstrated leadership on both a national level, in her home State of Indiana, and as a business owner by speaking up on issues which have an impact on the small business community at large," said WIPP President Barbara Kasoff.

With over 500,000 members nationally, WIPP fosters the interests of women business owners at the federal and state level. As the Indiana Founding Partner of WIPP and Chair of the Telecommunications Committee, Kathy assisted in a two-year focused effort to bring telecommunication reform to the State of Indiana.

With the recent passage of HB 1279, Indiana lawmakers have created a legislative model for promoting competition and encouraging new investments in advanced broadband services.

"I am honored to receive this award and thrilled that our efforts have paid off. This break through legislation is a positive step forward for consumers and small business owners across the state," said Briljent President Kathy Carrier.

The award was presented to Kathy at the "WIPP 2006 Watch: Early Signals" Spring Leadership Conference, May 10-11 in Washington, DC.
